Salted Caramel Brownies

1: In a small saucepan, heat the sugar on medium heat until it starts to turn brown.

2: Once it reaches a darker brown, remove from heat and add in the cubed cold butter; mix until fully combined.

3: Pour in the heavy cream and sea salt, mix, and return to medium heat for about 30 seconds.

4: Let the caramel cool for 15 minutes.

5: For the brownies, mix together the eggs, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, espresso powder, and vanilla in a bowl.

6: In a separate bowl, cream the melted butter and sugar, then microwave gradually until the sugar dissolves and is shiny.

7: Combine the egg mixture with the butter mixture, then gently add in the flour and mix without overmixing.

8: Pour half the brownie batter into a 9-inch springform pan, cover with a layer of caramel, then add the remaining brownie batter.

9: Bake at 350°F for 28-30 minutes.
